Bloody Marys

I don't know very many people who share my love for a good Bloody Mary. I never considered the drink as a cure for hangovers, I always saw them as the perfect happy hour cocktail on an empty stomach. The savory rim, the fresh kick of horseradish, the tang of lemon and pickle, and the mild olive finish…satisfying in so many ways.

I've always had someone else make my drink—I love how Oakland's Chop Bar prepares theirs—so this time I brought all these ingredients home for Christmas to make it for my family, thinking that it would be a huge hit. Alas, turns out that 1) no one likes tomato juice and 2) I forgot the most important ingredient—the vodka. *forehead slap*.

Oh well, I enjoyed it all the same.

I also made these flaky Fruit Galettes from Tasting Table and these Minted Baby Potatoes from What Katie Ate were a hit!
