Spent a leisurely few hours with two old college friends in downtown Oakland. Sunny but cold, a classic Bay Area afternoon. We wandered around the Popuphood shop neighborhood, ate at Cosecha, rehydrated at the Trappist, and picked up some goods at Umami Mart after listening to a very educational talk by Kristyn Leach of Namu Farm. Can I just say that I love this store?!
I was particularly excited to see Aya Brackett's photo installation Home is Oakland, Home is Japan at Umami. I'm a huge fan of her perspective and her work always kind of takes my breath away. I think I feel akin to her Japanese influence. I didn't take any photos of the collection, you'll have to visit before end of April to catch it!
